In the past week, I’ve had two conversations with two different clients. Both clients were involved in accidents where they were hit by the other driver; one was rear ended by a commercial vehicle and the other was struck by a car that changed multiple lanes in order to attempt making the exit. The question both clients asked was the same, “How should they file their car insurance claim?”
The health insurance market in Texas when through some pretty big changes in 2016 and it looks like even more are headed our way for next year. The Dallas Morning News published a number of articles during August on these changes, however, we’ll have to wait until the end of September before we know all of the details.
Insurance Journal published an interesting article based on the results of a survey undertaken by Trusted Choice and the Big I earlier this month. The results were very interesting and point out that most Americans are ill prepared financially for a major disaster, think their home policy will cover them in the event of a disaster, and may not have enough home insurance coverage to replace their home should they encounter such a disaster. With us being at the height of hurricane and wildfire seasons, let’s examine the survey’s findings.
My youngest son was involved in a car accident about 10 days ago. The good news is he was not injured although he is a little sore from the airbag deploying and sustained some minor cuts from flying glass when the driver’s window shattered. It could have been a lot worse. His mom called me to let me know he’d been in an accident and that he was not hurt. She also asked me a question related to filing a car insurance claim that is worth sharing.
A client called me two weeks ago. Their air conditioner died and they wanted to know whether or not it was covered by their home insurance policy. Given the cost of replacing an air conditioning system, I would ask the question too. The answer though, is it just depends on how they answer my next question.
