I’ve lived in Texas for 32 years. On more than one occasion, I’ve heard people describe Texas drivers as aggressive, bad, you name it. None of the descriptions were “complimentary!” But guess what my fellow Texans? No city in Texas made Allstate’s top 10 list for worst US drivers.

- Washington, DC
- Baltimore, Maryland
- Providence, Rhode Island
- Hialeah, Florida
- Glendale California
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Alexandria, Virginia
- Newark New Jersey
- Miami Florida
- San Francisco, California
What contributes to these cities being the 10 worst in the US? The guesses (some more educated than others) for why these cities are worse than others includes,
- Street layout (Washington, DC)
- The east coast cities were originally laid out to accommodate horse-drawn wagons, not SUVs
- All are near a coast (Atlantic or Pacific)
- Driver’s unfamiliar with the roads
- Average age of drivers
Now, just because there are no Texas cities in the top 10 doesn’t mean we can’t do our part to reduce our average accident frequency. We can all drive slower, be more careful, and extend some common courtesy to our fellow drivers on the road!
