I was in a class the other day and the instructor asked us, “What time of day do most accidents occur?” Most of us raised our hands and guessed either morning or evening rush hour(s). If that was your guess, then you, like most of our class, would be wrong.
The correct answer is that most accidents occur between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 4:00 a.m. I was slightly surprised at the time but there are a couple of reasons for that being the worst time of the day;
- Driving while intoxicated
- Driving while tired / falling asleep while driving
- More difficult to see
- The animals are out (think deer, etc.)
So if you have to be out at this time, be extra careful!
