Pre-Black Friday, Black Friday, and Small Business Saturday has come and gone and today is Cyber Monday. In case you missed it, there are 24 more shopping days till Christmas, so you have plenty of time to find the perfect gift for loved ones or yourself!
It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is already here. Whether you’re trying to get somewhere to be with people, preparing for an influx of relatives, or spending a relaxing and quiet day on the couch watching football, I hope the past 12 months have been extraordinary for you too!
You’ve worked long hours to fulfill a dream and build your company from a surviving business to a thriving, successful business. Is privacy dead? Most of us know that if we write a blog, tweet, share on Facebook, pin something on Pinterest, or share a video on YouTube, it’s probably not private. The same goes for email and those cookies which seem to track every website we visit. But did you know your car may have the ability to share more about you than you’d like?
A client sent me an email last week stating he has a roof leak in his north Texas home which was probably caused by hail.
Net neutrality, in pure layman’s terms, simply means a small business owner like myself gets the same access to people on the internet as large companies, such as Netflix, YouTube, eBay, etc. do. There’s no super-fast internet lane for them that they’ve paid for while Wise Insurance Group, Richardson Bike Mart, Hypnotic Donuts, or other small businesses are relegated to a poorly paved country road. Not only could millions of other small businesses be pushed onto a slow lane, we could potentially be blocked by an internet service provider such as AT&T, Comcast, or Time Warner, because we didn’t pay extra for access while a larger company did.
There’s one more area teens have that parents need to address; what to do in alcohol related situations. For example, 25% of all teens don’t know what to do if someone was drinking alcohol in the vehicle. 28% don’t know how to get home if their driver has been drinking. In 2011, 32% of teen drivers killed in car accidents had a blood alcohol content of 0.01 or higher.
There are a number of factors which go into the computation of your home insurance premium including age, construction type (brick, wood frame, etc.), age, and roofing material. In addition, there are factors that shape the replacement cost of your home’s insured value which has a direct correlation to what you pay for insurance. These include the number of square, how many stories, the number of living areas, number and grade of bathrooms, kitchen grade (see http://50.87.248.161/~wiseinsu/kitchens-bathrooms-and-home-insurance/), and is there a fireplace or swimming pool.
I’m working with a Dallas area consulting firm which has experienced explosive growth over the past year in terms of both people and revenues. They are negotiating a lease for their first office space and will move out of the owner’s home in the coming months. It’s a very exciting time for them involving a lot of moving pieces, insurance being one of them.
