August is here, and the start of fall classes is just around the corner. I usually have a couple of phone calls from clients whose son or daughter are about to head to school and they want to confirm that their stuff is covered. The answer is usually yes, but there are a couple of considerations worth confirming. Let’s view this in light of where the student will live.
I currently have two clients who were recently served with papers notifying them that they were being sued by the other person involved in the accident. The circumstances surrounding their suits is different, however, they both were scared and called me to determine what to do.

It may hinge on if the home is occupied as most home insurance companies do not want to write a policy when a home is vacant. In cases when your home insurance policy won’t cover the project, then I suggest either a vacant remodel or builder’s risk policy.
There’s been a lot in the news recently over tariffs as the Trump administration has begun to put them in place for various countries across the globe. The impact of these tariffs in the short term will probably be higher prices on goods that Americans import from overseas. What caught my attention the other day is an Insurance Journal article stating that tariffs may have an impact on what we pay for car insurance.
A friend of mine texted me the other day and asked me to quote her home insurance. I called her to discuss some questions I had about her home when she informed me she would be starting a remodel project in the next week or two which coincided with when she wanted to start a new policy. Her concern was if she changed home insurance now, would it cover her home remodel project?
