States Where Speeding Tickets Really Cost

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post advising why, from a car insurance perspective, you should take defensive driving if you are “awarded” a speeding ticket (see https://wiseinsurancegroup.com/speeding-tickets-defensive-driving-car-insurance/). I thought it might be fun to expand on that with a second reason; to avoid paying for the ticket in the first place.

Speeding Tickets, Defensive Driving & Car Insurance

I was talking with a client about their upcoming renewal earlier this week, specifically his family’s car insurance. He let me know he’d received a speeding ticket in Dallas going to work last month and wanted to know what the impact would be on his car insurance which is set to renew next month. For them, it would have cost them more to have me write their car insurance than to stay with their current insurance company. I told them to stay with their current insurance company. The reason was ticket activity.

Applying for life insurance? How’s your driving record?

Everyone smiles when I ask about traffic tickets or accidents. Some have even asked what they have to do with life insurance. Almost every insurance company that processes a life application will run MVR (motor vehicle report) and CLUE reports. The MVR show violations such as tickets and the CLUE report shows accidents.
