I thought it might be fun to expand on that with a second reason; to avoid paying for the ticket in the first place.
I was talking with a client about their upcoming renewal earlier this week, specifically his family’s car insurance. He let me know he’d received a speeding ticket in Dallas going to work last month and wanted to know what the impact would be on his car insurance which is set to renew next month. Will it go up, and if so how much?
I met with a client earlier this week for coffee at a Starbucks in Frisco. One of the topics she wanted to discuss was her and her husband’s umbrella insurance policy. In the next two weeks the familiar flashing light marking school zones will renew its warning and traffic will be interspersed with school buses for each of the independent school districts. I’ve worked with several people over the past few days quoting their car insurance. Ultimately we’re hoping to provide equal or better coverage for them for less money than they’re currently paying. I’ve been able to save several of them anywhere from $100 to $1,000 a year. There were two we couldn’t help. For them, it would have cost them more to have me write their car insurance than to stay with their current insurance company. I told them to stay with their current insurance company. The reason was ticket activity.
