What would life be without options? Most people assume that all home insurance policies provide the same coverage, or that they cover everything that could potentially happen to a home. They don’t. Due to differences in policy types and what insurance companies provide as standard coverage, there are several options I recommend to most home buyers or owners.
I helped several people with their home insurance last week. They all own or are buying homes in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. In each case I discussed what their new home policy covers, but one seasoned home owner asked me something different and that was what does his policy not cover.
There’s one more type of water peril that’s different from leaks. Homeowners and renters need to be aware of this peril. It’s sewer and drain back up. Leaking pipes and appliances are certainly a nuisance, but at least the water is clear and clean. Much more foul is a sewage and drain backup.
