An Introduction to Long Term Care Insurance

I received an email from a friend and client of mine a couple of weeks ago. She’s a single executive in her 40’s at a company in Dallas and she wanted to meet for coffee to discuss long term care insurance. Her email contained an amount of coverage she wants to have, so I gathered the information I needed to construct a quote to help guide our discussion.

Home Insurance vs. Home Warranties

Last week, I helped a family in Allen, Texas change their home and car insurance from the carrier they were with to one of the insurance companies we work with. The wife and I were reviewing what the new home insurance policy covered and she asked an excellent question: does the new policy cover the air conditioning unit? Instead of simply answering her question, I wanted to confirm what she meant by the policy covering the air conditioning unit. It turns out, she wanted to know if the home insurance policy will replace their A/C unit when it wears out.

The Surprising Results of One Safety Technology

My mom has discovered texting at 79 years of age. It’s very entertaining to read the text messages she sends. My mom feels like a technology power user because she discovered she doesn’t have to type text messages on her Android smart phone; she has speech to text capability. What’s entertaining is the spelling that comes through on her texts due to her thick Southern drawl.

Car Insurance Claim and Third Party Parts

I received a call from a client last year. She’d been in an accident and like most people I’ve worked with, wanted to know what to do. I confirmed she was not physically hurt, we reviewed what had happened, provided her with her car insurance policy number and the phone number for claims, then outlined a plan on how to best proceed. She drives a Lexus RX series so she had the car delivered to the shop of her choice which she gets to do according to Texas state law.

5 Home Insurance Options Worth Considering

I’m helping a number of people across the Dallas / Fort Worth area review and evaluate their home insurance. Rates across north Texas have sky rocketed over the last 2 years and each family is looking for ways to reduce their expenses without sacrificing coverage. Invariably, one of the things I’ve discussed with each family is which options they want their home policy to include. Here are the 5 options I recommend they keep or add to their home insurance policy.

IIHS Booster Seat Ratings

Finding the right booster seat for your child when they’ve outgrown their car seat is a lot easier with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) annual rankings. The IIHS began ranking car seats in 2008 because their research showed most booster seats weren’t doing a good job of consistently or correctly positioning safety belts for children 4 to 8 years old. An improperly fitted seat belt can injure a child in an accident.

An Introduction to Home Insurance

I’m currently working with several Dallas area families on their home insurance. These families include three families who are wanting me to evaluate their current insurance and see if we can provide them with lower cost insurance options than they currently have. The other two are first time home buyers that were referred to me. They want me to find the right level of insurance for them, save them money, and educate them in the process.
