Speeding Tickets & Twitter

The last time I was “awarded” a speeding ticket was 10 years ago. Jonathan, his mom, and I were headed to College Station, Texas to celebrate Jordan’s birthday. I turned off I-45 in Madisonville when a local police official pulled behind me, switched on his lights, and pulled me over for speeding. I was, tried to talk my way out of it (I wasn’t paying attention, etc.) but it didn’t work; I still ended up with a speeding ticket.

An Introduction to Car Insurance

I talked with a prospective client last week. She’s rolling off her parent’s car insurance policy and having to buy her first car insurance policy. She’s a little nervous about the car insurance being added to her overall budget but is ready financially and can handle it.

Car Insurance Claim and Third Party Parts

I received a call from a client last year. She’d been in an accident and like most people I’ve worked with, wanted to know what to do. I confirmed she was not physically hurt, we reviewed what had happened, provided her with her car insurance policy number and the phone number for claims, then outlined a plan on how to best proceed. She drives a Lexus RX series so she had the car delivered to the shop of her choice which she gets to do according to Texas state law.

The Ice Storm, Trees, and Home Insurance Claims

Thursday evening the rain and the temperatures fell as an arctic cold front came through Dallas, Fort Worth, and all of north Texas. Wet roads, power lines, trees, and shrubs began to accumulate ice. The ice built up, weighing down tree limbs and power lines causing them to sag. Limbs snapped from the weight of accumulated ice in the early hours of the morning sounding like rifle shots and landing with thumps in yards, on cars, and on rooftops.

4 Reasons Your Car Insurance Rate Increased

I’ve had a couple of interesting discussions with clients about their car insurance renewals. In both cases, their car insurance rate increased and both wanted to know why. Most of the carriers systems don’t give me a clear reason, so I called each company and we reviewed each client’s policy together. Most of the factors that led to rate increases were understandable and one was a surprise.

The One Option Your Term Life Insurance Policy Should Have

There’s one option no term life policy should be without and I didn’t mention it in last Friday’s post: 4 Term Life Options Worth Exploring (http://50.87.248.161/~wiseinsu/4-term-life-options-worth-exploring/). No, I wasn’t sand bagging, but some term life policies automatically include this as a “feature” of their term life policy while others add it as an option. What is it? It’s usually referred to as the Accelerated Death Benefit and what it does can be profoundly important.

4 Term Life Options Worth Exploring

All insurance policies have options: home insurance, car insurance, umbrella policies, health, and commercial policies. Every one of them has options. Even life insurance has options available to anyone who’s interested. Most people are surprised to learn this, but I believe it’s important to cover each one when I discuss life insurance. There are 4 primary life options including …
