There are a couple of major and minor drawbacks when anyone excludes a driver living in the household from a car insurance policy. The biggest two are what happens if the excluded driver drives a car(s) that is on the policy they are excluded from and is involved in an accident?
There are three bills that have been filed in the current Texas Legislative session; two are directly related to car insurance, while the third is not. Two of the bills aim to tackle the problem of named driver policies and exclusions, while the third bill focuses on the issue of texting and driving.
?Think your car policy covers everything? It may or it may not. Most car insurance policies have exclusions written into them, however I can probably count on one hand the number of clients I have who read their policies. Your policy is typically mailed or emailed to you when you get a new policy or when your policy renews.
