Federal Regulations Released for Autonomous Cars

On September 20th, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced 15 safety guidelines for autonomous vehicles. The purpose of the guidelines is to provide guidance for traditional automakers and companies such as Uber, Google, and Tesla as they move toward releasing driverless vehicles. The Changing Statistics of Senior Drivers

Car insurance company statisticians and actuaries, along with members of the US Department of Transportation were warning of a coming tsunami of senior drivers in the early 2000’s. One of the predictions was 2015 would be a watershed year of fatal crashes involving senior drivers.

Car Insurance and Autonomous Cars

Autonomous or driverless, cars have been in the news a lot in the past few weeks. General Motors CEO Mary Barra announced in early September Cadillac will introduce a model in 2016 which will be equipped with its Super Cruise technology. Super Cruise provides, at least initially, the ability for the car to drive itself on the freeway by handling the duties of accelerating, braking, and steering the car.
