August is here, and the start of fall classes is just around the corner. I usually have a couple of phone calls from clients whose son or daughter are about to head to school and they want to confirm that their stuff is covered. The answer is usually yes, but there are a couple of considerations worth confirming. Let’s view this in light of where the student will live.
I’m amazed at the level of technology available on our college campuses. For those who are my age, we had an electric typewriter that may have been self-correcting. In order to access a computer we had to schedule time in a special facility on campus and even then, programming was done on punch cards. Things have come a long way since then.
Having a child go to college is a wonderful and sometimes slightly scary time for most parents. Son or daughter is spreading their wings, stepping out on their own and beginning to prepare for life as an adult while they figure what their future holds. It is also a time when a son or daughter begins to make decisions for themselves, some of which have adult level consequences.
